SEO and business owners: 6 things you can do now to rise higher organically

This weeks "Marketing Advisor Radio Show" was all about SEO and what business owners can do today to rise higher in searches on the web.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sept. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- This weeks’ “Marketing Advisor Radio Show” was all about Search Engine Optimization and what business owners in Northeast Florida can do today, to rise higher in searches on the web.  Our guest this week was Kim Deppe of Deppe Communications.  Several take aways can be gleaned from the broadcast.  Chief among them are:
1)   There are two things to consider when contemplating an SEO strategy. They are your “on page” and your “off page” seo plans. On page refers to the way that your particular site is set up and the content that you create.  Off page refers to all the things a business owner can do outside of their site to improve seo.
2)   Fill out all of the directory listings (like Google local, manta, etc.), and remain consistent across all of them.  For example, if you list your business as “ABC, Inc.” in one directory, do not change the name to “ABC” in the next directory.  Google and other engines view those as two different businesses and will affect your seo negatively.
3)   Your sites on page creative should include the key word phrases that you want your business to be best known for.
4)   Your sites on page should be constantly changing. One of the best ways to do this is by posting blogs consistently.
5)   Your sites off page plan should be to include a “link back” to your site, whenever you send out a press release, or a blog that others may reference.  For instance, this link http://www.wokv.com/s/experts/marketing-advisors-show/ takes you straight to my page.  Another shameless plug would be this link, http://deppecommunications.com/ that takes you to the site of my guest, Kim Deppe.
6)   Link backs should be a part of doing business with you. You should be asking everyone you do business with for link backs.  They are votes that will help your SEO program.
Kim also shared her thoughts on the future of SEO.  More and more, people are using their mobile devices to search on the web.  People are in essence, talking to their device in a conversational way.  Where at my desktop, I may search for “Pet supplies Jacksonville Florida”, on my mobile device, I’m more likely to say something like, “Where is the nearest pet supply store?”  It will be important for businesses to recognize this shift and to plan accordingly.
