President Carlea Bauman to Leave Fight Colorectal Cancer

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Sept. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- President Carlea Bauman announced Monday that she will be leaving Fight Colorectal Cancer. She will be joining The Global Resource for Advancing Cancer Education as its first executive director. Current Vice President of Programs, Anjee Davis, will serve as interim executive director as the board of directors considers future leadership needs.

“Carlea turned Fight Colorectal Cancer into an advocacy powerhouse,” said Nancy Roach, founder and chair of the board. “Our policy work and grassroots energy have directly impacted access to screening and research funding. I’ll miss Carlea and wish her the very best in her future.”

Bauman joined Fight Colorectal Cancer (formerly C3 – Colorectal Cancer Coalition) in 2006 as the first executive director. As president, Bauman led the organization through a rebranding effort and grew advocacy, research and awareness efforts. In the past seven years the nonprofit has grown from $340,000 in revenue and less than 50 advocates to a $1.3 million organization that experienced 200 percent growth in advocacy participation and a database of more than 30,000 individuals.

"My seven years at Fight Colorectal Cancer have been amazing, challenging, exhilarating and heartbreaking when I’ve lost a friend to this disease,” said Bauman. “The patients, survivors and family members I've met and worked alongside will remain in my heart and I will always treasure the relationships I've made. I am proud of my work at Fight Colorectal Cancer and proud of the team that I built. They are smart, hardworking and dedicated, and they will carry the organization forward with the same commitment they have always shown."

Prior to working for Fight Colorectal Cancer, Bauman worked as the National Director of Grassroots Advocacy for the American Diabetes Association and as Press Secretary for the Florida “Truth” Campaign.
