PENSACOLA, Fla. - Sept. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Recently, questions have been presented, “Why is the Lieutenant Governor's position still vacant and do we really need a Lieutenant Governor in Florida?” The answer is YES. Former Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll brought a fresh face to the Florida Governor’s office. Floridians had an official in the Governor’s office that was accessible to the people. She was not afraid to go into any community to give main street constituents a voice and to listen to their concerns. No one who expressed a need for help from Lt. Gov. Carroll's office was turned away. The only relationship that the Governor had was to request for her to resign and never told Floridians, why? Yet, many individuals received and continue to receive barriers in the Governor's office. Including, Rick Scott’s halting of the rail system in Florida that would have brought jobs to urban areas, which is critical in the Sun Belt region. Furthermore, it has been stated that whoever fills the position of Lt. Gov. should be concentrated on jobs. Former Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll contributed a tremendous amount to our military and space that brought jobs to Florida and this should be appreciated by all Floridians, including Governor Scott.

A state this large and diverse needs more than one elected official in the Governor’s office to hear the concerns of the residents of Florida. The Florida constitution does not provide for a person to run on a separate ticket for Lieutenant Governor, so the Lt. Gov. is whoever the Governor selects. Florida has reached a population over 19 million and in a state of this magnitude, the constitution should be changed to have the Lt. Gov.’s position as a separate constitutional office so the state can have some diversity in thought, party, and color in the executive branch of office.

Governor Scott needs to keep in mind that Florida is not his corporation and he is not the CEO of Florida. Scott may not want to share the spot light with anyone else because when he did, it was with his campaign financial bundler and health care buddy A. K. Desai which has disappeared after Medicare fraud. Rick Scott will not be the Governor for life and should put Florida first and others that will follow him in that position and keep the Lt. Governor's position available for other Governors.
