Plunge on Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell to win Brownlow at Sportingbet

SYDNEY - Sept. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- The Hawthorn star’s odds have been slashed from $21 into $6.50 at Sportingbet since Wednesday after a massive volume of bets.

“We took more than 200 individual bets for Mitchell, compared to just 10 for Ablett, in a three hour period on Friday morning and there’s no sign of the bets stopping,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“Punters backed Mitchell to win more than $150,000 with us in the space of just 24 hours,” Brown said.

Mitchell is now a clear-cut third favourite in betting behind Gary Ablett at $1.75 and Joel Selwood at $5. Scott Pendlebury is $11 and Dane Swan at $14.

“Our analysts put Mitchell on 24 votes and six votes behind Ablett, so at this stage we’re more than happy for the bets to keep coming,” Brown said.

Mitchell is a clear-cut $1.25 favourite ahead of Luke Hodge at $4.25 to win the most votes of any Hawthorn player.
