Claudia Russell's CD, All Our Luck Is Changing "Is a Masterpiece"
All Our Luck Is Changing “is a masterpiece,”
When Claudia Russell released her latest CD, All Our Luck Is Changing, earlier this summer, she and her husband sent out almost 300 copies to radio stations and media outlets all over the country. And though more than 60 shows put the CD on the air, written reviews proved hard to come by. Though things looked promising when her hometown weekly, The East Bay Express, covered the new CD the week it was released, it was followed by collective silence – until now.
Russell’s patience has been rewarded with a review by Paul Zollo, a Senior Editor for American Songwriter magazine and writer for the online site Blue Railroad. He calls the CD “a masterpiece,”
Zollo is known as one of the top journalists covering the singer/songwriter scene, and has interviewed Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Laura Nyro, Leonard Cohen and many more in publications such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, Variety and his own online music site. His books are used as textbooks in songwriting classes at USC, UCLA, and the Berklee College of Music.

The review is long and thoughtful – Zollo expends more than 1000 words to review the CD and what Russell, her musical partner Bruce Kaplan and their producer Peter Case, have created. In the last paragraph he summarizes their accomplishment:
Russell is a nationally touring artist who performs as a duo with her husband, Bruce Kaplan, as well as with her band, the Folk Unlimited Orchestra. All Our Luck Is Changing is Russell’s fourth CD. Her first, 2000’s Song Food, earned her Best New Artist honors from WUMB-‐FM, the country’s largest all folk and Americana radio station.
The CD’s producer, Peter Case, is a 3x Grammy nominee and well known for his own career as tunesmith, with solo releases on Geffen, Vanguard and Yep Roc records.
Russell, Case and Zollo are available for interviews.
