Follow on Google News | The Ford F-150 Raptor SVT Sets a Sales RecordThe new Ford off-roader is a smash hit with buyers both at home and abroad.
The 2013 F-150 Raptor SVT initially was slated for a production schedule of two per hour in Michigan, but just to keep up with demand, and keep the truck on dealer lots, Ford has had to make five trucks an hour. Compared to most cars, the Raptor also sits on dealer lots for less time: 15 days as opposed to the industry wide average of 60 days. The Raptor has crushed sales records for eight out of the last ten months. The annual sales for this year are up 14 percent from 2012. The 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor SVT is a big hit with truck enthusiasts, off-road enthusiasts, and any driver that wants a truck with a little bit more power and style than the most traditional offerings on dealer lots. The F-150 Raptor SVT gets a burly 6.2L V8 good for 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. That engine is paired with a 4.10 Torsen front differential, a six-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive. Extra long suspension travel provided by Fox Racing Shox, provides traction for off-roading. Oversize skid plates are also standard, along with BFGoodrich 35-inch all-terrain tires, to make the Raptor truly off-road ready. The Ford F-150 Raptor SVT is an exciting variation on the standard best-selling F-150 pickup. It starts at $44,000. One especially interesting part of the sales success of the Raptor SVT is its popularity abroad: Chinese buyers are willing to pay as much as four-times the list price to import the truck on the grey market. That has no doubt contributed to the sales success of the Raptor SVT. Both are available through Arlington Heights Ford, at 801 W. Dundee Rd. in Arlington Heights (http://www.ahford.com/ End
