COPIAGUE, N.Y. - Sept. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- This past weekend on Saturday, September 14th and Sunday September 15th, over 3,000 pet owners attended the 6th annualThe Long Island Pet Expo in the Park that was held in conjunction with the Long Island Family Festival, hosted by the Copiague Chamber of Commerce, at Tanner Park in Copiague, NY.

The pet friendly event was free for attendees and was held outside at beautiful Tanner Park in Copiague which sits right on the Great South Bay.  It was the perfect weekend for pet parents to bring their four legged friends, to watch the demonstrations and programs that were held each day in the main ring.  Onlookers ‘oohed and aahhed’ as Diana Frohman and her Golden Retrievers danced to well choreographed routines and then there was excitement of high flying Frisbee Dog Kelly Belle leaping through the air to catch the discs her owner Dan Huebner was throwing for her.

You could hear squeals of joy and terror, from children and their parents alike when Jungle Bob of Jungle Bob's Reptile World took the ring with many of his reptilian friends his Live Animal educational show.

On Saturday there was also a fashion show held by Corky’s International Haute Couture Canine, and on Sunday a ‘Parade of Breeds’ which included dogs breeds such as: Chinese Crested, Beauceron; Leonberger; Shiba Inu; Skye Terrier; Old English Sheepdog to name a few.

“We had a fantastic turnout this year and were thrilled to see so many people attend with their children and their pets.  Many aspects of the Pet Expo in the Park are an educational and hands on experience for children to learn about many different animals, and meet all kinds of pets.  We love that the Long Island Family Festival has invited us back year after year, and that the event has grown in popularity,” said Karen Garetano of the Long Island Pet Expo.

In addition to the pet talent and entertainment in the main ring, there was a petting zoo, many pet vendors, and adoptable pets available through area rescue and adoption agencies that participated throughout the weekend.

If you missed the pet expo in the park, the next 3 indoor Pet Expo’s are: The Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, New Jersey on Friday, Saturday and Sunday November 22 – 24, 2013; The Greater Philadelphia Pet Expo is being held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 17-19, 2014 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center; and the Long Island Pet Expo takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 28 – March 2, 2014, at Suffolk Community College’s Brentwood Campus.  For more information or how to become a vendor go to: www.FamilyPetShows.com.
