Wives Behind the Badge - MA Comm. Hero Award Recipient

LOS ANGELES - Sept. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. ® National Community Hero Awards are presented to an officer who has gone above and beyond his/her role as a police officer, or to officers who have made a difference in their community.

Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. is proud to announce the State Community Hero Award recipient for 2013: Sergeant Eric Zawaki of the Peabody Police Department.

On December 5, 2011, Sergeant Zawaki was working a traffic detail at a construction site when he was struck and seriously injured by a motorist. According to news reports from the time of the incident, Zawaki was assisting another motorist and was hit and sent over the hood of a pick-up truck. It was later determined that speed and wet roadways were a factor that brought charges against the New Hampshire driver.

Having served with the department for 13 years at the time of the incident, he has been called a “top notch” officer by his fellow comrades. At this time, Sergeant Zawaki continues to recover from his injuries sustained that day and cannot return to work.

In his nomination, it was noted that he is “a great person who deserves positive recognition." We would like to thank him for his services through the Peabody Police Department and present Sergeant Eric Zawaki with our Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. National Community Hero Award on behalf of the Massachusetts Auxiliary.
