The methods needed to mitigate against maritime threats

SOUTHWARK, U.K. - Sept. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Shipping, sea pathways, and Europe's maritime infrastructure are gaining political and economic importance. The EU, aware of the vulnerability of its maritime interests, is currently working on a European Maritime Security Strategy (EMSS). From the German perspective, this requires an analysis of Europe’s economic and ecological interests, taking into account the effects of maritime criminal activity and militarisation of maritime areas. It would therefore be beneficial to develop common European policies. Europe’s current continental interest and trade radius needs to be revised to account for growing maritime interests outside European waters.

Neil J Hall AFNI MIACP, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Retd)

Neil J Hall is a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police and a former Royal Navy Officer who is currently with Sussex Police as the Government Agency Intelligence Network (GAIN) Coordinator. He is a Specialist in Maritime Policing and Security, CBRN Counter Terrorism, Critical Incident Management and Illegal Gangs and Irregular Migration and the effect that has on crime globally. During a career that has spanned thirty eight years, both in Law Enforcement and Naval Service, he was frequently involved in the enforcement of international law, as well as humanitarian and disaster relief operations and he has also taken part in a number of wars and conflicts throughout the world. Internationally recognised as an expert in his field he has served on a number of top level Committees and Practitioners Groups and provided advice to a variety of Government, Non Government and Law Enforcement Agencies both at home and abroad. He regularly speaks on his subjects of expertise at venues worldwide, including the UN and NATO, and is a Visiting Lecturer at Greenwich University and a Guest Lecturer at Portsmouth University.
