Follow on Google News | WTiN announces conference on digital printing for home textiles`The conference, in Frankfurt, Germany, on January 9-10, 2014, will explore the creative and commercial opportunities offered by this potentially enormous market, as well as the readiness of digital printing technology in applications that present challenges different from those encountered in fashion fabrics. In addition to representatives of leading machinery, ink and software companies, the speakers will include senior executives from some of Europe’s most prominent home-textile printers, including Menderes Tekstil (Turkey), Satinskin (Portugal) and Standfast & Barracks (UK). US-based digital-printing luminary Prof Hitoshi Ujiie will address the emerging field of surface imaging; and delegates will also receive an assessment of capabilities of the latest ink technologies from Dr John Provost, an international consultant and technical editor of Digital Textile. The conference is sponsored by SPG Prints, HP, Kornit Digital and Sensient Imaging Technologies. Global production of printed home textiles is estimated at 12 billion square metres a year, or about 40% of all printed textiles. Until recently digital printing had made very little impression on the industry but a number of high-profile investments have begun to change that. The programme will encompass bedding, drapes, upholstery, bathroom products, flooring and the related area of wallpaper – with one session of the conference devoted to the printing of carpets and pile fabrics. Both domestic and commercial interiors will be considered. The one-and-a-half- Website: www.digitaltextileconference.com E-mail: info@digitaltextileconference.com End
