Exparel® is a non-opioid, single-dose analgesic that lasts up to 72 hours for pain control and management.  A single intraoperative injection treats pain at the incision site with reduced opioid requirements.

According to the Exparel® website, when used as a part of a multimodal treatment regimen, the new drug can provide non-opioid pain control that lasts as long as the most intense post-surgical pain medication, without catheters, pumps or other delivery devices.
