Horse's Harrowing Escape Inspires Strong Commitment Of Support For Animal Rescue Organization

TORRANCE, Calif. - Sept. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Pet supplement manufacturer, Sun Chlorella, today announces a continued commitment to provide special nutritional support for the animals at animal rescue organization, The Gentle Barn. In honor of Sun Chlorella's commitment, Sun Chlorella was invited to name a rescued horse. Her name is Hiroka, which in Japanese means bold and beautiful child. For short, she is called Hero.

Hiroka was rescued in April 2012 along with 14 cows, 32 goats and sheep and 4 turkeys. The animals were badly mistreated, sick and terrified. They had been kept in crowded, unsanitary conditions awaiting slaughter. For months, The Gentle Barn had been working with the LA County Animal Care and Control and the District Attorney to remove these animals. After the rescue, the unlicensed butcher was arrested on felony charges.

Under the care of The Gentle Barn, these animals are rehabilitated and given a safe and permanent home on The Gentle Barn's farm. Unique to the Gentle Barn's mission, these animals then provide a point of connection and healing therapy for at-risk and special needs children and adults recovering from physical, mental or emotional trauma. By interacting with the animals at The Gentle Barn, people participating in their programs learn empathy, kindness, strength, trust, forgiveness and leadership.
