Follow on Google News | Deborah Von Brod on Ellen Lavinthal - WEHO makes compassionate decisionPlease join beautiful compasionate activist host ellen lavinthal as she celbrates with fellow activists the official fur ban in the city of west hollywood this saturday sept. 21st.
By: Animal Alliance WHY: The WEHO FUR BAN goes into effect on September 21st. Please join Fur Free Weho organizers Ellen Lavinthal, Bryan Monell and Ed Buck, joined by Robyn Hicks, for a RALLY & VEGAN PIZZA PARTY to mark this historical day! 1.We want the nation and the world to take note that FUR BANS CAN HAPPEN. (Since our ban, Norway is considering a ban on all fur farms). 2.Moreover, we intercepted an email from the Fur Council to the WEHO retailers inviting them to a strategy meeting to defeat the ban once it goes into effect (they cannot file a suit until the ban is in force as they need to show "damages"). Hence, it is crucial that we show our support for a Fur Free Weho by showing up in numbers. To this end, we also plan to pass out, at the rally, "coupons" to be presented to WeHo merchants-- whether retail stores, restaurants or gas stations-- that state that you are doing business in that city to support their compassionate stance on fur. 3.Additionally, at the beginning of FAll fashion season, what better time to EDUCATE the consumers as to the TRUTH about wearing fur. We will provide signage but feel free to bring your own! Also needed are signs that urge the retailers of WEHO to "stay the course" and/or to offer congratulations and state your intention to support WEHO businesses as a result of the ban. We will be holding a contest (with prizes) for the best three signs-- after all this IS a celebration!
