Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation announces 3rd Annual Gardens are for Kids Project

ATLANTA - Sept. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Atlanta (September 16, 2013) – The Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation announced the 3^rd Annual Garden’s are for Kids project at Benteen Elementary on Friday, September 20. The program is a one day interactive gardening initiative designed to educate and motivate students to avoid unhealthy foods while learning the principles of gardening.  September is   National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month designated in a proclamation made by President Obama in 2010. To support this cause, LHTYF strongly promotes healthy foods and nutrition for our children.

Childhood obesity and the growing epidemic of youth diagnosed with diabetes, is more important than ever all across the U.S.  “Our goal is to teach children that healthy eating is essential to proper healthcare and showing them how to plant and grow healthy food builds the foundation” said Lori A. Manns, President of Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation, Inc.

The Home Depot has partnered with the Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation as a sponsor to assist in offer this educational program free to local Atlanta area schools.
