NEW YORK - Sept. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- This past August, Dr. Donna Lynn, Howard University Faculty Ambassador, for the Miss Black Collegiate USA Scholarship Pageant™, Student Ambassadors, Adanne Khalfani and Jessica LaDuke rallied Howard University students in an effort to promote awareness about the “Exposing Minds, Not Bodies!™” Campaign for the 2013 Pageant.

Howard University students collected in the Blackburn Student Activities Center and held up “Exposing Minds, Not Bodies!™” signs.  The campaign proved to be so much fun that even a few young college men joined in on the positive fun. Their pictures are posted on the pageant’s social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) and people have been connecting from across the country by seeing their relatives engaged in such a positive initiative. One man contacted the pageant officials because of the Facebook pictures and became empowered to get his Goddaughter involved. Mr. Beckford has this to say, “Darlene is a champion for our beautiful young sisters. I commend her.”

The pageant’s Founder and Director along with pageant sponsors have made it possible in several ways for young ladies to save money should they choose to participate in this pageant. The contestant’s evening wear is sponsored by Macy’s Bridal Salon by Demetrios and jewelry is sponsored by R. J. Graziano.  Young ladies who submit their application before September 30th will receive a discount using the code emmb2013. As a testament to Howard University’s commitment to effect a positive change among young women of African descent, Howard University students submitting applications for the 2013 Pageant will have their application fee waived.

As a result of the successful launch of Howard University’s Exposing Minds, Not Bodies™ Campaign, any university/college, sororities, on-campus student government organizations, and/or non-profits that are interested in providing their students with the same perks as Howard students, are invited to nominate young collegiate women between 18 to 23, of African descent to become the 2013 Miss Black Collegiate USA Scholarship Pageant™ Queen. Nominees must submit a two-minute or less video of themselves stating why she should be the next Miss Black Collegiate USA Scholarship Pageant™ Queen. Selected nominees, will be entered into the 2013 Pageant, have their application fee waived, and have their assessment reduced from $1,500 to $600.
