Accounting Today Recognizes McGladrey's Joe Adams on Top 100 Most Influential List

CHICAGO - Sept. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- CHICAGO (September 13, 2012) – AccountingToday recently recognized McGladrey LLP Managing Partner and CEO Joe Adams as one of its "Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.

The annual "Most Influential People" list, now in its 26th year, was released in the September issue of AccountingToday. The publication states, "If the Top 100 were a flower garden, it would be no monotonous monoculture of rigidly organized beds filled with identical lackluster flowers," but a "lush bank of wildflowers…with different focuses and different schools of thought."

When asked about the biggest issues facing the accounting industry today, Adams cited innovation. "Like any profession, we must continue to innovate and evolve to remain competitive and relevant in the future. The accounting profession's reputation for integrity, ability to provide perspective on big data and experience giving business advice will be differentiators that can enable us to stay ahead."

When the Top 100 were asked who they would nominate for the list, President and CEO of the American Institute of CPAs, Barry Melancon, was by far, the most influential person in accounting. Most who named him cited his deep knowledge of where the profession stands now and his insights into where it's going. Maryland Association of CPAs chief Tom Hood was the second most frequently named person for his constant, passionate efforts to lead accountants in new directions.

Others who made this year's list include Mary Jo White, chair, SEC; Sen Orrin Hatch (R-Utah); Hans Hoogervorst, chairman, IASB; James Doty, chairman, PCAOB; William Balhoff, incoming chairman, AICPA; and Sen. Max Baucus, (D-Mont.).
