GEORGETOWN, Texas - Sept. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- GEORGETOWN, TEXAS (August 12, 2013) – Georgetown Heritage Society’s Annual Holiday Tour of Historic Homes & Buildings will take place December 14-15, 2013, in downtown Georgetown, Texas. The Tour will be open between the hours of 10am and 5pm on both days.

The Holiday Home Tour is one of Georgetown’s landmark events, drawing more than 1,500 visitors to the area each year. This year’s theme centers around the marriage of the old and new, focusing on the homeowner’s respect for historical significance and the many ways that they integrate that heritage with modern living.

Featuring historic buildings in Georgetown’s Old Town Historic District, this self-guided tour provides an inside look into exceptional historic and contemporary homes in the area. Tours of each house are guided by docents who are educated in historical information dating back to the 1800s. Docents will also provide details about the furniture and collections within the properties.

The Holiday Tour of Historic Homes & Buildings is the primary fundraiser for GHS. From these monies we fund programs and seminars for our membership and the community, distribute publications that aide in the understanding of Georgetown's historic and architectural heritage, and promote heritage tourism. Funds also provide for the continued maintenance of Grace Heritage Center.

"The Heritage Society Holiday Tour is a longstanding tradition that reveals the rich history found in Georgetown and showcases some of the city’s most beautiful historic homes in their holiday best,” said 2013 Home Tour Chair Amanda Parr.

Tickets will be available for $15 each in advance of the tour at various locations around Georgetown. On the day of the tour, tickets will be available for $18 at Grace Heritage Center, 811 South Main Street.
