Washington, D.C. – Over the last year LYGO DC (http://lygodc.com/) has had an ongoing relationship with local charities as part of our commitment to give back to the community much more than laughs. Continuing that giving spirit, we will partner with Operation Renewed Hope Foundation (ORHF) starting on Thursday, Oct. 3 to benefit homeless Veterans by providing ORHF 100% of profits made from attendees using the “ORHF Laughs” special promo code when they make a reservation. The show will be LYGO DC’s third installment of Stand Up at Bier Baron, co-produced with Sean Joyce of Underground Comedy (http://www.undergroundcomedydc.com/).

LYGO DC’s other current partners are DC’s Different Drummers (http://dcdd.org/) and DC Lawyers for Youth (http://www.dcly.org/). During Year 1 of LYGO DC’s charity effort, hundreds of dollars were raised. Our goal is to surpass $1,000 in Year 2.

“From the outset, we've known that working with charities would be a component of the vision of LYGO DC as a community-driven organization,” said co-founder Rich Bennett. “We've remained committed to finding new and inventive ways to ensure charities, particularly local charities, see LYGO DC as another way to raise funds and have a laugh along the way.”

The Oct. 3 show will feature Stavros Halkias with headliner Rahmein Mostafavi. Mostafavi, founder of Cool Cow Comedy, produces professional comedy shows in Rockville, MD; Fredericksburg, VA; and Lorton, VA.

Stand Up at Bier Baron, which runs every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month in 2013, will feature Gabe Canan-Zucker with headliner Brian Parise on Oct. 17. Co-producer Sean Joyce will host the 8:30 p.m. door / 9 p.m. show located at 1523 22nd Street NW.

Of course, our popular Wednesdays at Codmother and Sundays at Desperados continue in October.
