By: ISHM According to the conference website, “The summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro on 18-19 November will gather HSE experts from in and around the region to discuss the latest and best practices in the functions of an HSE department. The summit will attribute a comprehensive program covering the key topics of health, safety, environment and HSE management, featuring components such as panel and knowledge sharing sessions, which will strike an appropriate balance between emerging industry issues, best practices, and lessons learned.” After speaking at last year’s inaugural conference, Larry Curtis, CSHM, has been asked to return once again this year to talk about safety management. He will be presenting, A Safety Manager Must be Bilingual. His presentation will cover the role of safety managers and upper management and how they need to work together to ensure the health and safety of workers, the public and the environment. He will also discuss the international aspects of HSE and how it may differ across the globe. In addition to presenting at this year’s event, Mr. Curtis also sits on the Advisory Board for the LatAm Conference. Mr. Curtis has years of experience in the safety management profession and is the Executive Director of the Institute for Safety and Health Management (ISHM). ISHM administers the internationally recognized Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) certification and the Associate Safety and Health Manager (ASHM) and Certified Safety Management Practitioner (CSMP) programs for safety professionals and safety managers across the globe.
