Follow on Google News | ![]() IFWTWA 2014 Scholarship Awards Competition Now OpenThe International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association, a global network of lifestyle journalists, is pleased to announce that its annual scholarship awards competition is now open.
By: IFWTWA 1. Professional Journalism 2. Emerging Writer The Scholarship Awards competition is open to non-members and requires a one-time entry fee of $25. Scholarship winners will receive a professional certificate signed by the IFWTWA president, a one-year membership to the IFWTWA, a cash prize, and publication in Global Writes Magazine, the official travel magazine of the IFWTWA. Both awards are self-nominated. The Professional Journalism Scholarship Award recognizes experienced, working food, wine, and travel writers who have earned more than US$500 within the last 12 months for writing. The nomination entry may be a published or unpublished article about food, wine or other beverages, travel, or combination thereof, and must be accompanied by a current resumé and an essay of 250 or fewer words about why he or she should win the Professional Journalism Scholarship Award. The Emerging Writer Scholarship Award is given to an upcoming or aspiring food, wine, or travel writer who has earned less than US$500 within the last 12 months for writing. The nomination entry must be an unpublished article about food, wine or other beverages, travel, or combination thereof. As with the Professional Journalism Scholarship Award, the nomination entry must be accompanied by a current resumé and an essay of 250 words or fewer about why he or she should win the Emerging Writer Scholarship Award. Both the Professional Journalism and the Emerging Writer Scholarship Awards can provide excellent benefits to the recipients. Internationally acclaimed chef David Gilbert found that winning the 2012 Emerging Writer Scholarship Award afforded him credibility as an author. He says, “[The Emerging Writer Scholarship Award] provided the ideal platform for the launch of my first book, Kitchen Vagabond, to an international audience."
