ATLANTA - Sept. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- On August 5, 2013, a powerhouse team supporting the advancement of vertebral subluxation research announced the unveiling of their “Advancing Futures Research Agenda & Scholarship Initiative.” The team – comprised of ChiroFutures Malpractice Program, The Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association – selected 11th Quarter Life University student Eric L. Zielinski as the inaugural recipient of this prestigious $60,000.00 scholarship award.

Zielinski’s scholarship is for Emory University’s Master of Public Health program and their Prevention Science track. Currently ranked #6 out of all U.S. public health graduate schools, Emory is located in Atlanta, GA right in the heart of the public health world. Literally, next door to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Emory has all the resources needed for Zielinski to help put subluxation-based chiropractic on the research map.

When asked about being the pilot student of the 20-year Advancing Futures initiative, Zielinski responded, “It is an honor be part of this elite group of chiropractors to work toward preserving the integrity of chiropractic.” With help from his mentor and research advisor Matthew McCoy, DC, MPH, Zielinski has achieved outstanding success as a budding researcher. In addition to his peer-reviewed publication, his work relating subluxation-based chiropractic care and reduced cardiovascular disease risk factors awarded him the opportunity to present at conferences like the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco and Baker IDI’s Mind and Heart Conference in Prato, Italy.

Sharing chiropractic vitalistic principles to world leaders in heart disease research and management, Zielinski intends to capitalize on his education at Emory and continue to push the envelope toward exploring the role between vertebral subluxation and chronic disease processes. “Most chronic diseases are completely preventable,” Zielinski says, “And at the front lines of fundamental prevention are chiropractors who make sure their patient’s nervous systems are operating at 100 percent. The burden of proof is on us to show the world how and why chiropractic works. I just want to do my part.”

As outlined in an article recently published in the “Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research,” McCoy and Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation President Christopher Kent, DC, JD explain:

“This research agenda seeks to validate the profession’s focus on the location, analysis and correction of vertebral subluxation and position chiropractic as a vitalistic, scientific, evidence-informed clinical practice. This research is expected to assist the profession in gaining a higher degree of respect, understanding and acceptance in the health care marketplace, the scientific community and among the patients it serves.”
