About Black Family Day

The Time and What Must Be Done

WE MUST UNITE TO SAVE OUR YOUTH!

Black Family Day has been bringing all people together, since 1996, in unity, peace, and love to inspire and strengthen family ties and recognize the tremendous contributions of Black Families to this nation. The local version of this historic celebration was initiated by Min. Amon Muhammad, of the Nation of Islam, to help inspire and motivate the Black Community. Also, to offer educational workshops to improve the quality of life of local citizens.

We hope to have a day of enlightment and joy during a time of attack on our precious youth. Such as Trayvon Martin, Oscar Grant, Amadou Diallo, Troy Davis, Brandon McClelland, Jordan Davis, Sean Bell, Kendrick Johnson, Aiyana Jones, Jena 6, Kathryn Johnson, Prince Jones, Ramarley Graham, DJ Henry, Tyisha Miller, Ousmane Zongo, Central Park 5, AND MANY MORE IN EVERY HOOD AND SUBURB IN AMERICA

Included are day of workshops, gospel, R&B, Hip-Hop, spoken word artists, spiritual & civic leaders. Vendors from all over the region bring arts, crafts, and products of interest to the Black community. Ethnic and traditional menus are on hand in the food village. The Family Fun Village will feature games, bounces, face painting, and more.

We also want to give those affected by violence to have a chance to speak and share how their lives have changed and share their thoughts on what we, as a community, can do NOW!
