LOS ANGELES - Sept. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Los Angeles – Monday, August 5, 2013 – Independent production company Formation Films (http://www.formationfilms.com) reaches out to under-served fans of thoughtful science fiction films by acquiring movie rights to Andrew J. Clark’s debut novella “The Masque.”

The sci-fi mystery tells the story of a rebellious couple trapped in a surreal world of an isolated hotel masquerade ball, who must solve the mystery of their captivity to reclaim their identities.

Said Formation Films director Greg Derochie, “I discovered “The Masque” while surfing through books on amazon, and immediately felt a powerful connection to the story and its potential as the kind of thoughtful science fiction movie fans hunger for. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring Andrew J. Clark’s first published work to life as a movie.”

Derochie will adapt the novella into a screenplay entitled “The Masquerade”, with the intention of making the film as a follow up to his 2009 micro budget debut ““Solitary (http://www.formationfilms.com).” The independent production company expects the project to be ready for production in 2014.
