Harrisburg resident wins award for lead role in off-Broadway musical production

Area actress Nicole Renee Thomas shared top billing with noted actress Hillary Hawkins in “Jaded The Musical” in August

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Sept. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Harrisburg-based actress and singer Nicole Renee Thomas recently received the Best Actress Honorable Mention Award for her role in the Off-Broadway production “Jaded The Musical.” The production was one of several plays which were a part of the 2013 UnFringed Festival in Long Island City, NY.

Thomas shared the stage with actress, writer, director Hillary Hawkins (TVs Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Nick Jr’s Play Along) as Contessa, the overbearing mother of Jade (portrayed by Hawkins). The intensity of their relationship drive the musical numbers through 90 minutes of hilarity, joy, laughter, tears, sadness, and ultimately, redemption.

In addition to the upcoming stage production, Thomas has appeared in the stage productions Anything Goes; Dreamgirls; Godspell; Nunsense; Once on This Island; and many more. She has also been seen on TV in the CBS drama Hack (starring Andre Braugher and David Morse), and NBC’s hit series Law & Order.

Jaded The Musical finished its run at the Secret Theatre; however, there is the possibility of it performing elsewhere due to its popularity and high marks from audience members during the Festival.

Thomas resides in Harrisburg, and works as a long-term substitute teacher for the Harrisburg School District.
