Announces September Classes and Events

MONTEREY, CA -- Bella’s Studio is Monterey ’s premiere design, sewing and crafting studio. Located at 140 W. Franklin Street, Suite 205 in Monterey , owner Bella Lofaso Brancato inspires you to learn it and make it!

It is a destination for seamsters to rally and create -- a space to work on anything they can imagine! This sewing lounge offers classes, but even better, owner Bella Lofaso Brancato offers her expertise and support.

The Studio is the perfect way to meet new people, learn sewing techniques, and test drive the latest sewing machines. Bella’s Studio’s goal is to make sewing more accessible, let seamsters work with one another, and pass on the skills to the next generation of fashionistas and crafters.

Bella’s Sewing Fundamentals Series:

Back to school with lots of “elective” choices to fill your schedule. Bella is offering a two part “Beginning Sewing “ workshop for the sewing “newbie” or those who need a refresher course plus three separate sewing workshops using patterns from Indigo Junction that every skill level will like.

The two Beginning Sewing Workshops emphasizes the foundation of sewing. No matter what your skill level, having a solid understanding of how the sewing machine operates, the properties of fabric, cutting and pressing will help you enjoy & succeed on your sewing journey.

Beginning Sewing Workshops-

This is a two part session and it is recommend that you take both (if you can).

Session One- Making friends with your sewing machine & sewing tools

The sewing machine is a vital element of the sewing experience - knowing how it operates is paramount. Today’s sewing machines have kept up with technology and are easy and fun to use. Bella’s Studio has all new Baby Lock sewing machines!!

Time & Date: Saturday 9/7 9am -12pm

Cost: $55 per session or $100. for both

Session Two-It’s all in the cut

Understanding the properties of grain, proper lay-out, sewing terminology, pressing and project planning will be covered in this session. You will get to test your new skills with an adorable Pin-Cushion Chicken!

Time & Date: Saturday 9/14 9am -12pm

Cost: $55 per session or $100. for both

Bella’s September Saturday Projects featuring Indygo Junction Patterns

Infinity Scarf with hidden pocket:

We all love wrapping a colorful scarf around our neck for warmth and a pop of color-now imagine having an Infinity Scarf with a hidden pocket to tuck your ID into! This is a perfect project for all sewing level, especially beginners. Once you learn how easy it is to create this fashion “must-have” you will be making them for all your friends and family.

Date & Time: Sat 9/7 1-4 pm (6 students per class)

Cost: $ 75. includes pattern and materials to complete one Infinity Scarf

Banded Baskets

Who doesn’t need more storage? Create a custom Banded Basket to store all your sewing and craft projects in. There are three size options.

Date & Time: Saturday 9/14 1-5 (4 students per class)

Cost: $ 75. includes pattern and materials to complete one Banded Basket.

Urban Tunic

Sewing skill level is for intermediate or advanced

This Indygo Junction Pattern is a simple, stylish tunic that offers lots of wearing options: wear it sleeveless over leggings or layer it with a tee-shirt over slacks. This is an all day workshop. Proper fitting of a garment takes time, so before you cut into your Urban Tunic material we need to make a muslin shell. Having an altered pattern that fits you perfectly assures a beautifully finished garment you will want to make again and again.

Date & Time: Saturday 9/21 9am-4pm (bring a lunch-snacks will be provided)

Cost: $110. includes pattern and muslin. Tunic material is purchased separately

There will only be 4 students in this workshop-once registered Bella will discuss your fabric options with you

Holiday Papercrafting with Upcycled Style – Workshop with Lisa Handley

Lisa Handley invites you to learn how to papercraft for the holidays with upcycled materials during two workshops (Sept 28 and Nov 2).  Transform “everyday ephemera” into unique, stylish holiday notecards, gift tags and bags.  Find inspiration in old stationery, recycled wrapping paper and packaging, magazine images, maps, doilies, coffee cozies and much more!

In Class 1 – Take a relaxed approach to the holiday season by getting an early start on your greeting cards. Lisa will share her how-to tips and ideas that incorporate the re-use of materials you likely have at home.

Cost: $45.00, includes materials.  Additional “Bits Of Inspiration” kits will be available for sale during class.

· Open Studio for Personal Projects: COST: $70.00 / 10-hour punch card | Max enrollment: 4 students / hour

· An open lab where you can bring any project to work on, but you must schedule PERSONAL PROJECTS time with Bella. Private lessons are available for $40.00 an hour.

Bella’s Studio Punch Card/Personal Projects is an open-lab where you can bring any project to work on and have full use of the Studio, machines and sewing notions. Recommended for those with some sewing experience. Must call to reserve a spot, as space is limited to 4 per hour.
