Living in San Francisco is like living in a vivid full color movie with every kind of actor and story playing out. Tourism, Technology and politics were part of the landscape all surrounded by ivy league schools.

I am now living in the National Lakeshore, a highly trafficked area where tourism is at the heart of the economy however, it all happens in a very small window of time during the year. The short months between Memorial Day and Labor Day, tourist beat down the doors to all the attractions.
Above all, I find it wonderful to see the attitudes of the locals and how appreciative they are of the visitors. Yes the traffic is horrific for the area and there are visitors who do not protect the environment as we like, but all in all, the advantages far out weigh not having these wonderful travelers come and see for themselves the real beauty of the area. Got an idea? Let us know at: program@traveltalkmedia.com.

Specialist in Sustainable Tourism Development Moves from practicing to teaching at Purdue University

Dr. Jonathan Day spent much of his career serving his native Australia by creating marketing strategies and practices that would attract tourism to Queensland. That is where I met this vivacious and passionate man who never tires of talking about travel, all types of travel and all aspects of the industry.

His move to academia proves to be the biggest great gift to students who will benefit from Dr. Day's insight and wisdom and who will ultimately move into the many layers of this broad industry. Our conversation covers tourism, travel and the trends.

Welcome to BusinessTravelRADIO!
Today we examine the high level arena of travel buying

I had the opportunity to attend the Global Business Travel Assn Conference in San Diego this summer. While in the Press Room I met the media contact from USBank. While this might not be enough to talk about,  found during my conversation that USBank was very embedded in the industry and especially in handling travel buying transactions in huge numbers.

I did find it especially interesting as I have always had respect for this bank during the years of so much disgrace in the banking industry. USBank always kept its name out of the mud, blood and the beer, a difficult task when so many were dragged down with accusations of bad practices. I invited Mary Miklethun, Vice President, Travel Payments Product Manager U.S. Bank Corporate Payment Systems to talk to our audiences about the offerings. I realize it is a high level conversation, but take a listen, I think Mary does a great job making a somewhat serious conversation relevant even for the most payment challenged.

Aussie Publication and US Radio have some commonalities

When it comes to audiences, eGlobalTravelMEDIA and TravelTalkMEDIA's programs, TravelTalkRADIO and BusinessTravelRADIO, all share highest ratings in Australia and North America.

Stephen Morton joins us this week to talk about his journey from his roots in the hotel business to owning eGlobalTravelMedia.

Leaving the journalist to do what they do best, Stephen concentrates on the business of building opportunity and visibility for those who want and need travel and tourism news. His team of writers and photographers comb the world and in fact we talk about one such writer, John Savage who I met while traveling in the Seychelles. John is a memorable chap who writes about travel and plays a Ukulele very well. Join us for a great conversation!

Banks make the way to move away from Plastic

After meeting U.S. Bank  executive Mary Miklethun at the Global Business Travel Assn conference in San Diego this summer, I could not walk away from this story. Yes, it is true that U.S. Bank  is a leader in the world of travel buying and transactions but what caught my eye was the good story of U.S. Bank.
This bank which is headquartered in the heart of the USA has kept what we call in the US, 'their noses clean' as they waded through the years of recession, defaulted mortgages and other banks who were getting accused and proven to be less than scrupulous. Join me as we learn more about U.S. Bank  and how they fit into the payment chain of travel buying.
