SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, Calif. - Aug. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- This has been a busy year for Director of Photography, Louis Halcyon Simmons as he landed the Judge’s Award at the Scary Cow Indie Film Festival at the Castro Theater in early July for his short documentary AERIAL Los Angeles - Architectural Giants.  His production company, City of Angels Productions is bringing in two additional writers for his next project which is currently in development.  To add to the list, Louis just got confirmation for AERIAL Los Angeles to screen at the Catalina Film Festival held on the island in beautiful southern California.

The Catalina Film Festival, an annual celebration of film on the only West Coast resort island, features more than 75 films, nightly events and entertainment. From Charlie Chaplin to Marilyn Monroe, celebrities and filmmakers have flocked to Catalina for inspiration. Clear blue water and coastal breezes provide the perfect backdrop for unparalleled premieres, yacht and mansion parties, industry networking and discovering everything that the island has to offer— just 22 miles off the coast of Los Angeles. Films are screened at multiple venues around the island, including the iconic, art deco, 1,200-seat Avalon Theater— the world’s first sound theater.

Catalina Film Festival is a competitive festival with awards in up to 10 categories, including the prestigious Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation “Great Communicator” Award, Charlie Chaplin ICON Award, Stanley Kramer “Social Artist” Award, and the ISLA Earth Award; an honor presented by the Festival’s beneficiary, the Catalina Island Conservancy.

AERIAL Los Angeles is an enjoyable flying fantasy over the City of Angels. Buckle up as you glide in the air over what is now the US Bank Tower, breeze over the Orange Crush of southern California’s freeways and see concrete architectural giants that will wow and astonish you. This feature short film originates in high definition and will absolutely keep you on the edge of your seat, soaring just feet away from these amazing characters. This short film is visually stunning and the beginning of aerial cinematographer Louis Halcyon Simmons’ career. What a powerful and solid creation. Sit back and relax as you listen to the magical score of composer Glen Cheney performing November for this aerobatic ballet. This short is visually eye-catching and picture perfect, lit up with neon. Welcome to Los Angeles!
