Media Panel to Answer Questions at Above Board Chamber Meeting

Representatives from local newspapers, magazines, radio and television will answer questions about how they make news decisions
 
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Aug. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- “How to Get Discovered by the Media” will be the topic of the Fort Myers meeting of the Above Board Chamber of Florida on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at The Landings Yacht, Golf & Tennis Club on McGregor Boulevard in South Fort Myers, Fla.

Media representatives from local newspapers, magazines, television and radio will be present to answer questions and discuss how business owners can access the media.  The meeting begins with networking at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and the panel discussion at noon.

“We’ve got a stellar group of media professionals who actually decide what you see, read and hear on a daily basis.   If you’ve ever wanted to know how news decisions are made, this is the meeting for you,” said Susan Bennett of Susan Bennett Marketing & Media, who organized the panel and will serve as moderator.

Panelists include:
●   Jean Gruss, editor for Lee and Collier counties of the Business Observer;
●   Osvaldo Padilla, managing editor of Florida Weekly – Fort Myers;
●   Phil Borchmann, editor of Gulfshore Business;
●   Kellie Burns, evening anchor of NBC-2;
●   Casey Logan, Lehigh-Cape Coral editor of The News-Press Media Group; and
●   Valerie Alker, senior reporter and host of “All Things Considered” for WGCU Radio.

Attendees also will hear from the featured non-profit of the month, SalusCare, Inc., the new not-for-profit formed by the merger of Lee Mental Health and Southwest Florida Addiction Services in July.

Registration is at www.aboveboardchamber.com.  Cost is $22 for members and $27 for non-members if payment is received prior to September 13.  After that date, cost is $27 for members and $32 for non-members.

The Above Board Chamber of Florida is dedicated to supplying members with tools to make a positive impact on members’ lives and businesses through educational programs, speakers, small groups, and community outreach. The Chamber holds monthly meetings in Lee and Collier counties. The organization was founded by Jeanne Sweeney in January, 2011 and has an Advisory Board with members in both counties.
