Tommie Cares Foundation Offers Free Community Event for those with Special Needs in Norwalk, CT

NORWALK, Conn. - Aug. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Tommie Cares Foundation is pleased to announce a free paddle event for those with special needs featuring kayaking and standup paddling (SUP) on September 15^th in , in Norwalk, Connecticut. The event will be held at Norwalk Harbor View at Cove with generous support from Norwalk Cove Marina and DownUnder CT.

"Our mission is to make the water front accessible to all people,” says Kim Beaumont, owner of Downunder CT.  “Our rental services, lessons, camps, and parties all strive to empower the public.  We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Tommie Cares to bring these water sports to individuals with disabilities."

Tommie Cares is seeking volunteers (http://tommiecares.org/volunteer/) of all ages and skill levels to help during the event. Experienced paddlers are needed, and there are many land-based roles that only require a desire to help others. Everyone makes a huge difference. The day begins with a volunteer orientation and safety training. After being paired with a buddy, each participant has an opportunity to expand their potential through adventure activities like kayaking and stand up paddling while also making new friends. The event culminates in an awards ceremony, honoring each participant with a medal.
