CHANDLER, Ariz. - Aug. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- CHANDLER (AZ)—Brighton Publishing LLC proudly announces the eBook release of novelist Kathleen Cook Huebbe’s latest work, “Runaway: Their Moment in Time.” Formed from the fabric of a bygone era, author Kathleen Cook Huebbe weaves a remarkable tale of friendships, fun, and fame—all found on a quarter-mile track. Runaway: Their Moment in Time is currently available in all popular eBook formats from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other fine retailers with the print release scheduled for early-2014, to be distributed by Ingram, the world’s largest book wholesaler and on demand from the Espresso Book Machine.

It had been twenty-two years since his graduation, but for Christopher, known as “Topher” to his friends, the memories were still fresh…and painful. Soon, Topher would receive a letter inviting him back to his favorite Southern California hangout—the 1950s-styled diner—Oasis.

For Topher and his friends, Grant, Stephen, Brandon, and the daring teenage girl known as Runaway, the eighties meant more than their senior year of high school, it meant cars—fast cars.

It was…Their Moment in Time.

Inspired by the classic tales of 1950’s street racing, and the framed photos of drivers and their cars hanging from the walls of the Oasis, the teens would eventually form a car club of their own—The Shakers.

The nonconformist of the group, Runaway, quickly steps into her role as leader of the group, and by their senior year of high school, The Shakers, have become the town’s latest rage. Teenagers from other schools promptly follow suit and form clubs of their own.

Rivalries form almost immediately, but none of them as intense as the one between Runaway and her arch nemesis—Bret. Soon, though, everything will change in the aftermath of a single, horrifying accident. Ultimately, Runaway finds herself engaging in a winner-take-all contest against her adversary—putting her life, and her beloved ’57 Chevy on the line.

“Using an impactful writing style and her effective gift for communication, author Kathleen Cook Huebbe, delivers an endearing story of classic cars, fast tracks, and rare life-defining moments,” said Kathie McGuire, director of Brighton Publishing LLC. “Runaway: Their Moment in Time captures the young adult lifestyle, essence, and camaraderie of the golden age of Southern California street racing.”

Kathleen Cook Huebbe was born in Southern California, and grew up listening to stories of the 1950’s-styled street racing from her father, a street racer himself. Ms. Huebbe has been a high school English teacher for more than eighteen years and currently resides in Southern California with her husband, their three energetic young children, and Jake, their Golden Retriever. First envisioned as a daydream, Runaway: Their Moment in Time has been in the making for over twenty years.
