Foundation for Tigard/Tualatin Schools benefits from Bridgeport Village summer concerts

PORTLAND, Ore. - Aug. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Portland’s premiere shopping and dining destination, Bridgeport Village, has one final Summer Concert in its 2013 lineup and the Foundation for Tigard/Tualatin Schools is on track for its fundraising goal of $10,000 raised at this year’s concerts.

2013 is the 7th season that Bridgeport Village has hosted its annual summer concert series.  The Foundation for Tigard/Tualatin Schools has been the beneficiary of all donations collected at the concerts for the past 4 years.  The concerts are free, but guests are given the option to “give a buck” at the door.  100% of the donations are donated to the Foundation.  Guests who “give a buck” are entered into drawing to win prizes from Bridgeport stores. Additionally, Bridgeport Village restaurant vendors donate 3% of their sales during the concert to the Foundation as well.

The Foundation distributes money among area schools to provide supplies and teaching materials, science software, math clubs and robotics .  One school, Alberta Rider Elementary, even used funds to hire a reading teacher.  “Bridgeport Village and the supporting vendors of the concert series truly understand the value of having strong schools in their community, and they prove that by creating this fundraising opportunity.  The concerts not only allow us to bring awareness and invite the community to make education a priority, but it also lets us showcase the bright musical talent we foster in our schools.  We are extremely grateful to Bridgeport Village and look forward to a long partnership,” said Margie Yemoto-Greene, Executive Director of The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools.

Another fun element to the partnership features local student performers and musicians who “warm up” the crowd for the headline act each week.
