HawkEye LPS Announce New Loss Prevention Solution

HawkEye LPS Leads the Way With New Technology Now Available to Grocery Stores

CHICAGO - Aug. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- HawkEye LPS is happy to announce the availability of the latest generation of LaneHawk™Loss Prevention Solution– the LaneHawk LH4000 unit. This vision-based technology solution turns the bottom-of- basket (BOB) losses into real-time profits for grocery stores, other retailers and lead to savings for the shopper.

HawkEye LPS recognize today’s retailers are faced with many challenges to their bottom line including the erosion of profits through occurrences such as shoplifting and shrinkage through overlooked BOB items.  This is a significant amount of lost revenue for the merchants. Typically a store will lose$6-$10 per lane per day in sales through missed items or intentionally left items on the bottom of the basket. It adds up quickly and is often times passed on to the customer.  This new and improved system will help prevent that kind of loss.

The LaneHawk system will eliminate bottom of the basket loss as a problem for stores by photographing each item that is on the bottom of the cart and then sending that information directly to the checkout system. It includes a flush mount camera in the checkout stand that continuously watches for items left on the bottom of a shopping cart. It then employs a cutting edge vision technology called ViPR™ (Visual Pattern Recognition) that recognizes items based on their packaging without seeing the bar code. The unit then provides the cashier the ability to add the product directly to the current transaction.

Also it is equipped with logging capabilities so it can generate weekly reports of missed items by lane or employee allowing for better training or identifying employees that consistently overlook items.

Improvements in the LH4000 include: improved lighting within the target area, higher resolution and better field of view of the BOB area.

“Revenue losses from unpaid merchandise add up,”stated Joe Guy, GM and VP of Business Solutions Group, “Datalogic employs advanced technology to develop innovative solutions that help the retailer end bottom of basket shrink. The LH4000 will help recover 85 – 90% of BOB losses, which for the average store can add up to $20,000 a year.”
