This makes right and left ventricles to work harder and pump more volume of blood than normal. Due to the increased load on left ventricle, it fails to pump blood effectively than normal in due course of time.

Fallot's Tetralogy –  Fallot’s tetralogy is the most common of congenital heart defects. It is a combination of four defects in the heart of the child- right ventricular hypertrophy , ventricular septal defect, abnormal position of aorta and pulmonary stenosis. It is the most common cyanotic congenital heart disease. There are two main surgeries that are done to treat tetralogy of fallot:

·         Total Corrective surgery

·         Blalock’s – Taussig’s operation

Valvular Defects – There are present mitral valve and aortic valve that allow unidirectional flow of blood. The patency of the valves is important for the blood to flow normally through the heart. When the valves get narrowed, the blood passing through the valves also gets reduced due to which the heart pumps blood harder to push through narrowed valves. There arise symptoms such as lung congestion and reduced oxygen supply to all the body parts because of narrowing of the valves.

Double valve repair and replacement is the procedure of correcting and replacing the damaged valves with new functional valves. The procedure is done through an open heart surgery.
