OAKLAND, Calif. - Aug. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- On Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 6pm, Rebuilding Together Oakland will celebrate their 20th Anniversary with a spectacular event – the Oak Barrel Bash Benefit, in the Garden & Atrium of 1111 Broadway , Oakland, CA.  This event was such a success last year, that by popular demand from attendees and supporters, the ‘Bash’ is back.

Rebuilding Together builds community partnerships to rejuvenate neighborhoods through the rehabilitation of homes owned by low-income homeowners and non-profit facilities that serve low-income communities.  The work of our volunteers ensures the safety, comfort and independence of low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly and disabled. Over the years, the organization has repaired and modified over 1,000 homes and renovated 130 community facilities, schools and parks providing safe and pleasant spaces for the community to learn, play and come together.  They have also mobilized over 32,000 volunteers from corporations, churches, synagogues, schools and civic organizations, and generated over $17 million dollars in project value.

“We are very excited to be celebrating 20 years of service to our neighbors in Oakland.  When I think of the thousands of people we have positively impacted with our work I could not be more proud of our staff and volunteers throughout that entire time.  Of course we couldn’t have done anything without the great support from our corporate sponsors, foundations, individual donors, and the City of Oakland.  Our mission is to provide a safe and sound home for deserving residents in Oakland and I know that we will continue to expand over the next 20 years and beyond,” says Richard Tong, President of the Board of Directors.

“For nearly 8 years, the business unit leadership at The Clorox Company has been an on-going supporter of Rebuilding Together Oakland (RTO).  As part of our continued commitment to Corporate Responsibility and our core value of Doing the Right Thing Every Day, the ‘hands-on’ type opportunities which RTO provides enables both great employee Team Building and is a critical part of giving back to OUR communities in which we work and live everyday!” says Steve Keil, The Clorox Company.
