Georgia State Board of Education Approves WriteSteps for State Recommended List

Aug. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- WriteSteps (http://WriteStepsWriting.com) today announced that their research-based, award-winning, digital and print, 100 percent K-5 Common Core writing and grammar program, has been approved by the Georgia State Board of Education to be used in Georgia classrooms for a period of six years.

“We are thrilled that WriteSteps has been approved by the state of Georgia,” said Suzanne Klein, Founder and CEO of WriteSteps. “We look forward to connecting with Georgia educators and school districts to prepare students for the Common Core and a lifetime of confident writing!”

The WriteSteps curriculum is posted in the Grades K-12 English Language Arts/Reading State Recommended List, which includes a complete listing of instructional materials recommended by the Georgia State Board of Education.  It was deemed that WriteSteps meets all of the writing and grammar Common Core Standards and the Georgia Performance Standards.

WriteSteps covers narrative, informative/explanatory, and opinion writing texts aligned to the Common Core writing standards. The daily lesson program gives teachers and students everything they need to develop their craft with confidence. Visual aids such as authentic student writing samples, graphic organizers, and 6 Traits/Common Core rubrics give students of all learning styles effective habits that foster clear written expression.

The purpose of state recommendation of instructional material is to ensure that Georgia schools are provided with the highest quality of learning resources. The adoption process also guarantees consistent contract pricing of the recommended materials for Georgia’s schools.

ABOUT WRITESTEPS:

In 2007, WriteSteps Founder and CEO Suzanne Klein committed herself to creating teacher-friendly writing lessons after her school decided to prioritize writing due to low student outcomes. The writing program she developed - WriteSteps - was so successful in raising test scores and student confidence that the company expanded its scope to refocus instruction on the Common Core State Standards for writing and grammar. Its Common Core release won a "Best of Entrepreneurs" Award from Ann Arbor SPARK in 2010 and launched nationwide in September, 2011. WriteSteps is the recipient of Learning Magazine 2013 Teachers' Choice Award. For complete information, e-Newsletters, and the WriteSteps blog, please go to http://WriteStepsWriting.com.
