NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Aug. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- On Thursday, August 29, Dialysis Clinic, Inc. (DCI) with the support of DCI Donor Services will be hosting The Giving Life Event from 6pm to 11pm at SOUTH, located at 1524 Demonbreun Street.

“This is a not just another night of music in Nashville,” states Brian Gourley, event coordinator, “This is a night of bringing people together to share with them that they have the power to offer the gift of life. We need people who are courageous and kind enough to sign up to be organ donors. We hope our event will raise awareness and encourage people to take that step.”

Representatives from DCI Donor Services will be at The Giving Life Event to answer questions about organ donation and provide an opportunity for guests to immediately sign up on Tennessee’s organ donor registry.

Complimentary hors d’oeuvres are being offered by SOUTH along with a half price drink and appetizer menu for the evening.

Live musical entertainment will be provided by Amy Wilcox, The Flashtastiks, Stephanie Quayle, Brother Moultrie, Anthony Billups, and Emerald Blue.

The silent auction will be held from 6pm until 9pm with a wide range of options from vendors such as The Southern, Levy’s, Elan Hair and Skin, Grand Avenue Limousine, Zanies Comedy Club. All proceeds from door donations and the silent auction will benefit Camp Okawehna, a week-long summer experience for children ages 6 to 18 years old suffering from kidney disease.

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services an average of 18 people die each day waiting for a transplant.

The United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) reports that according to research, 90% of Americans say they support donation, but only 30% know the essential steps to take to be a donor.
