How Mold Gets Into a Home Discussed in New Online Video

The IAQ Video Network releases another educational video about important environmental, health & safety (EH&S) issues.

PEORIA, Ariz. - Aug. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Today, the IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of another online video to help educate people about issues that may impact their health.  Their latest educational video discusses how mold can enter a home or other type of building.

Mold and mold spores occur naturally in the environment. They can enter a building from the outside through open doorways and windows as well as through the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system’s outdoor air intakes. Mold in the outside air can also attach themselves to people, making clothing, shoes, bags, and even pets all potential vehicles for carrying it into an indoor environment.

When mold spores land on places where there is moisture, such as where leaks may have occurred in roofs, pipes, walls, or where there has been flooding or excessive humidity, it can begin to grow in as short as 24 to 48 hours.

“Mold may even be on or in many building materials before they are ever used to construct a home or other type of building,” reported Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network and the new public outreach video.  “Many building materials and household belongings provide nutrients that encourage mold to grow when moisture is present. We hope this new video helps to educate people about mold and indoor air quality issues.”
