Rabbi Shlomo Braun of the Aleh Foundation Introduces Bill Thompson

On Tuesday, August 12, immediately after a Mayoral Televised Debate, Mr. Thompson appeared in Boro Park at the Machzikei Ballroom where a full auditorium of Rabbinic and community leaders graciously received him.

NEW YORK - Aug. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Rabbi Shlomo Braun, Director of the Aleh Foundation had the honor of introducing the mayoral candidate to a gathering of close to 200 civic and religious leaders. He spoke passionately about his relationship and trusts in Bill Thompson. Following are some excerpts of Rabbi Braun’s compassionate welcoming remarks:

As we approach the High Holiday season it is incumbent upon us to account for our past and take charge on the future. I stand before all of you with strong emotions and a major responsibility.

NYC is faced with a major challenge that has never happened in the past.  Our future Mayor will have to deal with new citywide leaders, new Boro presidents and many new city council members who never previously served in public office, while at the same time serve as mayor of the most complex city in the entire universe!

Let me assure you that while being involved in community and political affairs for the past 43 years, you and I know that newly elected officials know it all and tell you what to do, instead of listening to professional advice of the community. We are here today to endorse Bill Thompson as the next Mayor of the great City of New York! I endorse him because he has a passion to believe in this city and what the citizens need. Our future Mayor, Bill Thompson has the capacity, the intellect, the experience and most of all the common sense to work harmoniously with everyone.

Boro Park for decades set the tone of the Jewish vote Citywide, Statewide and Nationwide.  I have been involved in the John Lindsay, Abe Beame, Ed Koch, David Dinkins, Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg campaigns, and I sincerely pray to Almighty G-D that being involved in the Thompson campaign will be an even greater success!

My relationship with Bill Thompson goes back from the time when he was Deputy Boro President about 30 years ago. Bill Thompson always came through with flying colors for our City, on the Board of Estimate, on the Board of Education and most important on the two terms he served as NYC Comptroller
Bill Thompson has strong moral judgment. He is a G-d fearing individual, he is a family man, he is accessible and a strong advocate for an improved education system, adequate services for seniors, affordable housing, employment, and proper health care.  In his previous job as comptroller he oversaw the cities 100 billion pension fund.
Bill has a deep understanding of the needs of both students and educators. He is a persistent champion for more extensive after school programs and higher standards of teaching he served as a chief administrative officer at Siebert, Branford, Shank & Co. LLC, the nation's largest minority public finance firm, where he leads efforts to underwrite loans for schools, roads, bridges and infrastructure projects. “Mr. Thompson”, you know our community’s needs in the area of Housing, Education, Social Services, Employment and  Hidden Poverty and I am confident that once you are elected we will be at home with you, just as you have demonstrated in the past.  While others give empty promises, your record speaks for itself.

The entire audience rose to their feet and gave the candidate a standing ovation, whereby the message was very clear, that everyone in attendance expressed strong feelings “we believe in this candidate” and he will be the most qualified man to lead NYC for the next eight years!
