Theresa M. Moore Registers Antellus Trademark After An Attempt to Conscript The Brand

Antellus, the private independent publisher of books and e-books, has been registered as a trademark brand after a shell investment company operating out of Asia tried to register it as their brand name and take all Asian domain names for itself.

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. - Aug. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- "I was approached by a domain name registrar who expressed the need to 'close the process' of registering the asian suffixes for antellus dot com on the behalf of an investment firm, which I could not find on the internet," Antellus author and CEO Theresa M. Moore said. "After in increasingly frustrating exchange of emails with the registrar, I decided to make the brand official after 7 years of operation. I had always intended to take this step but several crisis situations this year prevented me from doing so. This event of a shell company blatantly declaring its intention to conscript my brand, which is on all my book products, has caused me to accelerate the process of protecting my ownership."

Antellus as a brand and trademark had its origins with a series of short stories Moore wrote in the 1990s, in which the planet Antellus was always at the forefront as the home planet for her vampire characters. Moore had published under the brand "Ikthalion Press" until 2006, when she decided to take Antellus as the new name for her publishing imprint and the brand for her company. After doing a thorough internet search and finding no competition, Moore began the process of establishing the brand that year, and the logo went through several iterations in the process. Moore registered the brand trademark on August 20, 2013 when the crisis of ownership forced her to take action immediately. The investment company in question was identified as "Gaojiu Investment Company, Ltd." and was not able to take most of the suffixes, as Moore had already bought them in 2012. The main site has always been antellus.com.

"You can imagine my shock and anger when I could not locate the company in question. I had already been subject to a shakedown attempt before, when a Chinese registrar out of Hong Kong tried to get me to buy the suffixes from them. This attempt appears to me to be no different," Moore added. "I expect this situation to be resolved soon."

More information about the site can be obtained by email or by visiting the Antellus web site.
