NHTSA: Chevrolet Impala Earns Five Stars for Safety

Flagship Sedan Aces Crash Tests, Offers Advanced Technology to Prevent Collisions

ST. ALBANS, Vt. - Aug. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Family sedans are often evaluated on spaciousness, comfort and safety, and the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala delivers in every category. Chevy's fresh-faced flagship sedan aced the barrage of crash tests created by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), earning the highest possible rating of five stars. The NHTSA puts each vehicle it assesses through a full battery of evaluations, including frontal crash, side crash and rollover resistance.

Advanced crash technologies such as dual-stage front passenger airbags, driver and front passenger knee bags, and head curtain airbags with rollover sensing helped the Impala protect its passengers in the NHTSA tests, but its active-safety features may help prevent those accidents from even happening. Equipped with available radar and camera technology, the Impala can alert drivers to impending collisions with side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert and forward collision alert. Additionally, with crash imminent braking, the Impala will automatically apply the brake to mitigate impact if the driver does not respond to crash-threat warnings.

"Parents are especially concerned about the safety of a vehicle before they're willing to purchase it, and for good reason," said Dan Handy, principal dealer of Handy Chevrolet, a Vermont Chevy dealership. "With the Impala, they can put their minds at ease that their precious cargo is safe, while still enjoying the comfortable amenities the sedan is known for."

Modern amenities fill the 10th-generation Impala, with the available Chevy MyLink infotainment system keeping drivers connected on the road via Bluetooth technology, Internet radio streaming and USB ports. Meanwhile, the ergonomic cabin features upscale materials and available chrome or wood accents, as well as ambient lighting to complete the luxurious feeling of the Impala's interior.
