Campaign to Produce Domestic and Sexual Abuse Awareness Videos
Frame Productions, in association with Mayo Women's Support Services and the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre, have launched a Fund It campaign to produce a series of videos aimed at raising awareness of domestic and sexual abuse against women.
By: Frame Productions Ltd
These videos will be launched in Mayo during the annual 16 Days of Action Against Violence Against Women in November and will portray real women's experiences of domestic and sexual violence.
These educational and informational videos will be distributed to domestic violence services and rape crisis centres throughout the country, as well as to the public on a local and national level via social media, websites, and email campaigns.
Frame Productions have worked closely with Mayo Women's Support Services and the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre on the development of the video scripts.
The project is currently ready to into production, however a total of €3000 is required to produce the videos. The campaign is using Fund:it, the crowd funding website which encourages philanthropists to donate small amounts of money to groups and organisations who wish to set up creative projects in Ireland.
Fund:it sets a minimum monetary total and a time limit for each project, if a project fails to reach or exceed its target the funding will not go through.
Funding for this project will go directly towards covering the production costs of the videos, including equipment, lighting, camera crew, editing and cast.
Bernadette Byrne from MWSS said “Media is one of the most effective methods of raising awareness and getting messages across to people. These videos accurately depict the domestic and sexual violence that women tell us they live with. It also shows the devastating and possible long term impacts of this violence on women and their children. Please support this very exciting project”
