Follow on Google News | Wow…weighbridge giving works wondersThe generosity of metal recycling locals has helped raise more than £1,200 in three months/to date for Jersey Hospice Care.
Between the months of April and June a steady stream of people did just that. More than 150 loads of scrap metal were dropped off at the recycling facility in exchange for donations to the Hospice totalling an impressive £1,268.16! The simple, but effective fundraising programme continues to give Islanders another chance to ‘scrap it then donate it.’ People are once again being encouraged to have that overdue clear out; to collect up their left over supplies from their home improvement projects (old boilers or off cuts of copper pipe, for example) their recently replaced garden furniture or no longer fit for purpose old car and take it toGate 4, Bellozanne Valley, St Helier. They simply then choose the Jersey Hospice Care option when asked how they would like to be paid. Jersey Hospice relies on donations and support form local people and businesses and is delighted with the success of the weighbridge giving scheme so far. Fundraising Manager Lynsey Beahan said: “It’s wonderful that so many people have supported us in this way and great to see that the small amounts here and there all add up. Thank you all.” “We’ve been overwhelmed by the number of people wanting to donate the value of their scrap and we really hope it continues. It’s a straightforward process; just bring your scrap metal to our facility along with some photo ID and we’ll take care of the rest,” said HJL Manager Alex Pirouet. HJL is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 4.15pm and Saturday 7.30am to noon. For more information about HJL, including a list of prohibited items go to www.hjl.je. End
