GREATER KAILASH, India - Aug. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- As per a report published in BMJ Open, centrally acting ace inhibitors reduce the rate of cognitive decline in patients with dementia regardless of their blood pressure levels at the time of their hypertension, said Padma Shri & Dr. BC Roy National Awardee, Dr. K K Aggarwal, President, Heart Care Foundation of India.

We must start a treatment in time and the results are visible within six months. Compared to other anti-hypertensive drugs the improvement in cognitive functions may be between 20-30% higher with ACE inhibitors.

There is a possible role of these agents in dealing or preventing the onset of dementia in patients with normal blood pressure who are at high risk of dementia.

Amongst drugs pariadopril (not a trade name) appears to outperform others. The drug also has anti-inflammatory action.
