In the US, sales of science fiction romance books has increased to $590.2 million. Smith, has experienced the surge in interest in the genres ‘forgotten’
“Whilst the majority of readers are women, men are also embracing science fiction romance although they may be a little reluctant to publicly admit it”, says Smith. “I receive a lot of mail from female fans saying they have shared my books with their husbands and partners who also enjoy them. And of course many couples get steamy in their bedrooms as a result,” says Smith.
Comments from male readers have included – “Fun books. Sci-Fi, romance and comedy all wrapped up in one package. Looking forward to reading ALL the books coming soon.” Steven. Matthew wrote, “I love your Sci-Fi books - not only the sci-fi but the humour (You've got a lot to answer for . . . annoys my wife me chuckling away when I'm reading your books).”
“Ereaders and self publishing has opened up the science fiction romance market and made it accessible for everyone. Also combining romance and science fiction action has allowed men to embrace this previously female dominated romance readership”, says Smith. “Which just shows that romance is for everyone.”
A prolific writer of erotic romances, S.E. Smith has been quickly embraced by lovers of science fiction and fantasy romance for her quick witted and spirited heroines and alpha heroes.
