The Neuro-Diversity Project: Art & Autism at Studio 4, Old Town

By: Studio 4, Old Town

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Aug. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- The artists of Studio 4, Old Town in Alexandria, VA are collaborating with a group of children on the autism spectrum to create a body of work that will hang in the Studio Four, Old Town gallery the month of September. Project creator, artist and mother to a child on the autism spectrum, Gina Cochran has paired professional artist volunteers to work with the children one on one.  “We wanted to give these children a chance to not only experience the creative process WITH someone else, but also to know the joy and pride that comes from seeing your work hanging in a show.”

“My partners John Gascot, MG Stout and I did a kickstarter campaign back in April to raise the money to buy all of the supplies for this 50 canvas show. It is our hope that the proceeds from the show in September will fund another year of supplies for workshops with the children and hopefully make this an annual show at Studio 4, Old Town.”

The reception will be held on September 14 from 4-7pm, GFCF refreshments will be provided.  It is free and open to the public.

The exhibition will be on display for the entire month of September at Studio 4, Old Town, 218 North Lee Street, Suite 101, Alexandria, VA, 22314.

Gallery Hours: Thursday-Saturday 11:00am-7:00pm and Sun 12:00pm-5:00pm.
