"My story, 'Sea Bright', is based on my experiences of raising a child with a rare syndrome," says Isaac.
"It had previously been short-listed down to the final 30 entrants by Fish Publishing for their Short Memoir Competition this year. I then decided to submit 'Sea Bright' to the charity anthology, 'Of Words and Water 2013', and was delighted to be accepted.
"Also included, is a poem I wrote in my teens, entitled 'By The Mill', which was inspired by Preussler's 'The Little Watersprite', which I loved as a child."
Ali Isaac grew up in the hot, arid climates of Kuwait and Cyprus, and is therefore well aware of the value of clean water and sanitation, something which is taken for granted in Ireland.
"In Ireland, we are lucky to have an abundant supply of rivers and lakes, and access to more water than we need," says Isaac. "We turn on a tap, or step into a shower without giving it a second thought. In other parts of the world, children are dying every day through desease brought on by drinking dirty water. I am proud to be able to support the fine work of Wateraid through my writing."
Ali Isaac is the author of the contemporary fantasy series, 'The Tir na Nog Trilogy'. Book One, 'Conor Kelly and the Four Treasures of Eirean' is out now, with Book Two, 'Conor Kelly and the Fenian King' due for release shortly.
She is also working on a fictional novel, 'Unique', upon which the short story, 'Sea Bright', is based.
