Carpool originated as a twelve-minute short film written and directed by Courtney Brandon.  It was produced by BE Original Films (BEOFS), a family operated, independent film development company locate in Corona, California.

Carpool, The Short is about Lisa, a ballet dancer, who has been raised by a single mother.  Her mother doesn’t want her to make the same mistakes she did by going to prison to see a man that shows no promise.  But, Lisa doesn’t listen to her mother.  She continues to visit her boyfriend in prison.  To do that, Lisa has joined a carpool with two other women.  Jeanette, a 40 year old women that has been visiting her man in prison for 22 years.  Now, she is stuck in that lifestyle.  Then there’s Rhonda.  She is a 32 year old ride or die chick that has hung in there with her man for 10 years.

Through-out the trip, Lisa listens to the plight of these two professional visitors.  In between the jokes, the laughter, the sadness, and the tears, Lisa envisions what her life will be like if she continues down this prison road.  Will she be a ballet dancer?  Or will she be chained down to a relationship that stops being about love and becomes more of a routine?

Carpool, the short film, has just finished its festival circuit, picking up a lot of good press.  Carpool, the short has screened in The San Diego Black Film Festival, The LA Shorts Fest, The Temecula Valley Film Festival, The Palm Springs International Film Festival and The Soul 4 Reel Film Festival in Washington DC where Carpool won The Viewers Choice Award.  The great response to Carpool has encouraged BEOFS to pursue a feature-length presentation.  Carpool has the legs, because...

Carpool is “engaging”.

Jim Rothgeb of The Californian called Carpool “an engaging tale...”
“When I read this review in The Californian, I knew we had accomplished our mission:  To make movies that make you laugh, cry, and undoubtedly think.  I’m convinced that the same can be accomplished  as a feature”, Rick Brandon.

Carpool has relevance.

There are 1.7 million men incarcerated and .79 women frequenting the visiting rooms of our many prisons to visit these men.  In so many ways, incarceration has affected all of our lives, even in how we love.

Carpool is marketable.

Carpool is an African-American drama.  It’s main viewers will be Women.  Women make up of 50% of American movie goers.  Because of Carpool’s engaging relevance, Carpool will appeal to a diverse American and global audiences.

Carpool will have a great return.

Carpool is a low-budgeted movie, yielding a higher profit potential.  With the funds and players in place, an aggressive marketing, leading an aggressive distribution plan, Carpool is destined to have great returns.
