TINLEY PARK, Ill. - Aug. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- The Mazda6 is a midsize sedan that has always stood out from the pack thanks to its engaging driving dynamics – but now, the all-new 2014 Mazda6 is a well-rounded sedan that excels in every way without sacrificing any of its trademark Zoom-Zoom personality. In order to make the Mazda6 a sedan that perfectly combines practicality and fun, the engineers at Mazda worked to make the Mazda6 a safer sedan than ever before. This is the first Mazda to receive this designation.

Many Mazda vehicles have earned the Top Safety Pick designation over the years, but the new 2014 Mazda6 has gone even further. The Top Safety Pick+ designation is a new award, even more stringent than the Top Safety Pick award. To earn it, vehicles must receive a rating of “Good” on roof, side, head restraint, and frontal moderate overlap tests, as well as an “Acceptable” rating on the small overlap test.

Earning an “Acceptable” rating on the new small overlap test is what sets Top Safety Pick+ vehicles apart from the competition. This new test simulates the effects of a collision in which a vehicle hits a stationary object like a utility pole or tree, or a collision in which a car collides with an oncoming vehicle. The test involves striking 25% of the vehicle’s front end against a 5-foot-tall barrier while going 40 mph. Small overlap collisions are particularly dangerous for drivers and passengers.

In addition the being more capable of handling various types of impacts than ever before, the all-new 2014 Mazda6 also features a variety of other safety features. With six airbags, power-assisted ventilated front disc brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution systems, traction control and stability control systems, and much more, the Mazda6 is engineered to keep passengers safe in a variety of situations.

Drivers interested in test-driving the new 2014 Mazda6 can do so at Community Mazda of Tinley Park. With a starting MSRP of just $20,880, the new Mazda6 is affordable as well as fun, safe, full-featured and practical.
