EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. - Aug. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Barton Group, Inc. (BGI), a longtime supplier and consultant to the foodservice and packaging industries, has announced the development of Squeezy Straw™ – a new single-serve dispensing pouch with its own built-in, integral sipping straw.

“I’ve supplied and consulted with McDonald’s, Burger King and many other leading foodservice chains for years, and that’s how I became aware of this need in the marketplace,” said Lewis Barton, president of Barton Group, Inc. (BGI).  “I want to make clear that I am not manufacturing Squeezy Straw™ products. Rather I am introducing this patented technology to the industry and making it available for licensing.

“By combining pouch and straw into one product, we can reduce packaging and storage costs, accommodate all kinds of liquids at all temperatures, and reduce environmental impact,” Barton explained. “In addition to applications for beverages and condiments, Squeezy Straw can also be produced in a 3.4-ounce size that is within the current TSA maximum limit for carry-on liquid containers. The possibilities for companies to generate new products and new revenue streams are unlimited.” See more at http://www.squeezystraw.com or www.consultbarton.com .

Barton has consulted on issues of packaging, supply chain management, and operations in the foodservice and packaging industries for more than 20 years. In that time the firm has been retained by, and worked on projects for, such industry leaders as Dow Packaging, McDonald’s Corporation, McCormick & Co., KFC, Reckitt & Benckiser (The R.T. French Company Division), YUM!, Brand Aromatics and Tetra Pak.

Before establishing BGI, Barton was the founder and CEO of Sigma Quality Foods (SQF), a producer of single-service condiment packets and other liquid food products for the foodservice industry. SQF supplied major chain operators including McDonald’s, Burger King, Hardee’s, KFC as well as distributors in the foodservice market. SQF was acquired by Sugar Foods Corp. in 1990.

SQF also acted as a contract packager and in that role Barton produced products for companies such as Lipton, Campbell’s, Heinz, American Home Foods, Gorton’s of Gloucester, Morton Frozen Foods, Buitoni, General Foods, Domino Sugar, Heublein, French’s, and others

BGI also produces foodservice related business conferences such as the Retort & Aseptic Food Packaging Conference. Barton Group is based in East Hampton, N.Y.
