WEN Founder Chaz Dean Discusses Family, Faith, and Philosophy with MASTERS Audio Club

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - Aug. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Chaz Dean’s philosophy of respecting the health of hair has won him many loyal fans. The celebrity clientele at his Chaz Dean Studio reads like a who’s who of Hollywood, including actors and models like Jamie-Lynn DiScala, Julianna Margulies, Keri Lynn Pratt, Neve Campbell, Charlize Theron, and Allison Janney. Chaz also stars in Guthy-Renker’s WEN Hair and Body Care infomercials, frequently seen on QVC. He began developing the all-natural line in 1993 and painstakingly tested the products for five years before their official debut. Today, WEN’s extensive celebrity following includes stars like Eva Longoria, Halle Berry, Christina Applegate, Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, and Drew Barrymore. 

Chaz began his career in photography but quickly developed a passion for creating the “total picture” — haircut, color, and makeup. He attended cosmetology school and worked his way through the ranks at a salon that let him do both cut and color; he also helped develop a product line that became highly successful for the company. He eventually wound up owning his first salon in upscale Bel Air, California, where he began building an impressive celebrity clientele.

By the mid 1990s, Chaz wanted a new location. “People used to drive by the center when my salon was in Bel Air and videotape my clients, then the next week they would show up in the tabloids,” he explains. “I wanted to offer an environment that was more intimate and secluded, a safe haven for my clients.” Surrounded by bamboo and filled with the scent of eucalyptus and lavender, the Chaz Dean Salon is a Zen-like refuge tucked away in a charming Hollywood bungalow. The neighboring Chaz Dean Lifestyle boutique features unique gift items and home furnishings from around the world, all hand selected by Chaz. 

Though his primary focus is hair, Chaz has continued with his photography, utilizing the space above his salon as a studio. “Photography was my vision that started it all,” he says. With a genuine passion for helping others, Chaz regularly participates in charitable functions, often donating his photography services and opening his salon doors to host fashion shows and other events.
